In the beginning, there was dreaming ...

In the beginning, there was dreaming in the beer garden in Troja. One summer‘s day, music and Prague Troja fans gathered there; its long-time residents Míla Dubská and Petr Dvořák, Josef Špaček, (who quickly succumbed to Troja's charm as a father of small children and an avid cyclist,) and Martina Výrková, who secretly envies their address there. Together, they took notes on the places in the Troja basin whose wonderful locations would be enhanced by music.

The year has passed, dreams took concrete form, visionaries turned into artistic director (Josef Špaček), festival director (Martina Výrková) and festival godparents for strategic development (Míla Dubská & Petr Dvořák). The team has grown with skilled young talents in their various fields - the logo and visuals are the work of Lucie Daňková, the web page programmer is Ivan Horký, the PR is taken care of by Kateřina Zelenková and Tereza Pohlreichová.

We are now excited to present the inaugural programme of a somewhat different festival: a festival outside of the concert hall, in informal settings and in harmony with the landscape.
The programme of each chamber concert has been designed by Josef Špaček, taking into account the atmosphere and character of the place. Meditations on the Old Czech Chorale by Josef Suk, Schönberg's Verklärte Nacht and Strauss's song Morgen will be performed in the open air night environment of the Zoo.Cimbalom ensemble will play at sunset in St. Clare's vineyard of the Botanical Garden.Afternoon concerts in the courtyard of the Troja brewery (nowadays Kolovna ZOOna) will have a vibe for the whole family – our festival ensemble will join forces by young highly talented musicians of the Chamber Academy Central Bohemia lead by Tomáš Jamník on Saturday afternoon creating a full string orchestra. Renowned Epoque Quartet will make your Sunday afternoon highly enjoyable by playing film and jazz melodies (joined by Josef Špaček as their special guest).

The Troja Festival works on the principle of similar musical events from around the world – You can look forward to top musicians, both local and foreign, who participate in various formations in individual concerts. Guests of the festival will include the renowned Roma Cimbalom Band of Ivan Herák and the great Epoque Quartet.

Our intention is also to build the Troja community. We believe that the festival will be a place to meet up and to linger. Wine and refreshments, available during the concerts, are locally sourced.

We thank all of our corporate and personal partners for their support and we look forward to seeing you all in Troja!
