Petra Brabcová is an experienced soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player. In 2015 she was appointed Principal Second Violin of the Czech Philharmonic. She is also a member of the Orbis Piano Trio, which is a laureate of several international competitions and the recipient of the 2010 Prize of the Czech Chamber Music Society.She collaborates with the Czech Sinfonietta and the Prague Chamber Soloists. In 2010–2014, she was a member of the PKF-Prague Philharmonia orchestra.
Petra studied music at the Jan Neruda Grammar School, in the class of prof. Jiří Fišer, further at the Prague Conservatory with prof. Jaroslav Foltýn. After graduating there she received a scholarship to Michigan State University, where she studied for 2 years under the guidance of Charles Avsharian, followed by studies at the AMU in Prague with prof. Ivan Straus.
Petra repeatedly participated in the prestigious courses at the Meadowmount School of Music (USA) and other master classes led by Rugiero Ricci, Zakhar Bron, Silvia Marcovici, Stephen Shipps, Andres Cardenes, Arturo Delmoni, Gerard Ribeiro and Semion Yaroshevich.
She is a laureate of many international competitions: Beethovenův Hradec 2002 - 2nd prize, Michigan State University Honor Competition 2006 -1st. prize, American String Teachers National Solo Competition 2007 - 1st prize, Henri Marteau International Violin Competition 2008 - Audience Award, Prague Spring 2010 - Josef Suk Prize.
